About Us
Founded in 2000 by a Christian journalist and a theologian, Christian Audio Visual Action (CAVA), is a non-denominational and non-commercial broadcast and print media ministry devoted to the proclamation of the Gospel and to bring all people in Malawi to Christ through all forms of mass media. We raise the consciousness of the socio-economic, pastoral and political challenges that impinge on Church growth in the country and promote interventions of the Church in addressing these challenges to advance God’s Kingdom.
We help the Christian Churches to preach the Gospel by providing them with free Christian books. We use the media to present a message of hope to a nation desperately in need of Christ.
Christian Audio Visual Action is a united, purpose driven and determined ministry led and motivated by the Holy Spirit that wants to remain in strong partnership with all Christian Churches, Para – Church organizations and ministries in the country and outside, that have the same kind of motivation and understating of faith and values.
We don’t work for profit. Our income comes from individual Christians, partner Churches and other well - wishers across the country and outside.
Mission
Inspired by the great Commission, we are called to bring people to Christ by offering a broader knowledge of the scriptures and open up the Church to the challenges of the society and strive to provide a Christian interpretation and reflection to the challenges through all forms of mass media.
Vision
Our vision is to share the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and to further extend the mission and ministry of the Church in Malawi by using mass media and through that to encourage an environment in which Christians may find meaning and significance in peaceful co-existence, despite differences in doctrines.
Purpose
Our purpose is to animate Christians in Malawi to the Mission of the Christian Church.
Activities:
Translation, publication and distribution of Christian books and other forms of literature to individual Christians and churches.
Production of high quality Christian TV and radio programs.
Radio and TV coverage of Christian events.
Production of Christian IEC materials.
Publication of Christian newsletters and magazines
Training of ordained and lay leaders of the Church in pastoral and social communications.
Mass media is an effective way of propagating the Gospel. Through this way, we have preached about the Good News to millions of Christians in Malawi, irrespective of their denominations and we continue to reach out to many souls. We solicit books and other Christian materials from individuals and organizations all over the world. We translate the books into major languages spoken in Malawi, publish them and distribute them freely to individual Christians, mission organizations, Churches, hospitals, colleges, prisons, secondary and primary schools.
Video Production
We produce videos to create awareness on the contributions and interventions of the local Church to the socio-economic, pastoral and political challenges from a Christian perspective.
The Church and HIV/AIDS
This video explores the devastating effects of the HIV/AIDS on the church and the whole society and the response of the Church to the pandemic in Malawi. The video outlines the role Church can play in advocating for love towards those infected and fighting against stigma and discrimination. The video gives out hope to those infected and affected by the pandemic and those living with AIDS and those living with them. It calls on Christians through the Church to do what Christ did; fed the hungry, preached and educated, visited the sick, prayed for healing, accompanied the dying and comforted the bereaved.
Building Peace
Promoting justice and building Peace.
Women in the Church
This video explores the place of women in the Church and the levels of injustices that they encounter in their humble service to the Lord. The video also details how the local Church can address those injustices to enhance the active articipation of women in building the body of Christ and how much alongside their male counterparts they can work to the Glory of God. The video offers solutions on how much the Church can reduce gender disparities that negatively impact on the Church’s development.
The Church and Domestic Violence
This video documents the levels of domestic violence in Malawi. Lately, the country has witnessed the rise in incidences of domestic violence that has led to the silent deaths of women and children. This video discovers the areas where the Church has failed in addressing this ‘evil’. The video seeks to promote guidelines, coordination and support for gender equality in the socio-economic, cultural and pastoral reflection of the local Church.
The video provides the following interventions:
Addressing gender imbalances in leadership and governance at all levels of the society.
Building capacity among men, women, boys and girls to take up leadership roles and responsibilities.
Breaking the silence around risky and gender insensitive taboos, cultural and traditional practices that not only infringe on human rights, but Christian values as well.

Through our television and radio, we have managed to touch the hearts of so many Malawians. Meanwhile, we have temporarily suspended our own radio transmission due to inadequate and poor transmitting equipment. However, we still continue transmitting our programs via the country’s sate-run broadcaster, Malawi broadcasting corporation (MBC) and other privately –owned radio stations. Our programs enjoy a wider audience of 7 million people in a country with a population of 12 million.
We also cover part of Mozambique, Zambia and Tanzania. These are border countries. In these countries, we capture an audience of 3 million people.
Through television, we are only producing programs that are transmitted on the state-run television station, the country’s sole television station, Television Malawi (TVM). Our television programs capture an audience of 5 million Malawians. We are the major producer of Christian programs for television in Malawi. The impact of our work in Malawi cannot be over emphasized.
